Es autor de m\u00e1s de 200 art\u00edculos originales de investigaci\u00f3n <em>publicados<\/em> en revistas internacionales en el campo de la bioqu\u00edmica, biolog\u00eda molecular e inmunolog\u00eda (J. Exp Med; Nature Cell Biology, FASEB Journal, Gastroenterology, Blood, J. Clin Invest, Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, J. Immunol, J. Biol Chem., Hepatology; Biochem J, Nature Medicine, J. Am. Col. Cardiol.).<\/p>\n<p><em> Inici\u00f3<\/em> sus estudios bajo la <em>direcci\u00f3n<\/em> del Profesor Alberto Sols investigando el efecto de las interacciones proteicas en la regulaci\u00f3n del metabolismo de carbohidratos. Posteriormente continu\u00f3 sus estudios de formaci\u00f3n post-doctoral en Oxford, en la Facultad de Medicina de la UCL (Bruselas), en Cancer UK (Londres y en la Universidad Carleton de Ottawa, investigando el papel de la prote\u00edna quinasa C sobre el <em>metabolismo<\/em> energ\u00e9tico de c\u00e9lulas tumorales. A partir de 1997 se centra en el estudio de la fisiopatolog\u00eda de los procesos inflamatorios, investigando su contribuci\u00f3n en procesos tan diversos como la regeneraci\u00f3n hep\u00e1tica, el shock s\u00e9ptico y la miocarditis. En este contexto, estudi\u00f3 el papel de las especies reactivas de ox\u00edgeno y nitr\u00f3geno, en particular del \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico, sobre la regulaci\u00f3n de la regeneraci\u00f3n del h\u00edgado despu\u00e9s de una <em>hepatectom\u00eda<\/em> parcial, as\u00ed como en la activaci\u00f3n de macr\u00f3fagos y su papel en la patolog\u00eda card\u00edaca durante la sepsis, infarto o miocarditis infecciosas y autoinmunes, demostrando su papel en los procesos de remodelaci\u00f3n de la matriz <em>extracelular <\/em>del coraz\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, ha contribuido a esclarecer el papel de los NLRs en procesos fibrog\u00e9nicos, sobre todo de NOD1, en el ri\u00f1\u00f3n y en el coraz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p><em>Recientemente<\/em>, se centr\u00f3 en el estudio del control del metabolismo energ\u00e9tico de los macr\u00f3fagos como factor necesario en la polarizaci\u00f3n funcional y en el progreso de la respuesta inflamatoria. La publicaci\u00f3n en J. Immunol. de 2010 estableci\u00f3 con claridad la especificidad en la reprogramaci\u00f3n metab\u00f3lica del macr\u00f3fago asociada a fenotipos <em>espec\u00edficos<\/em>, como son el pro-inflamatorio y el pro-resolutivo. <em>General <\\\/em>del Instituto de Salud Carlos III (FIS, SGEFI; 2013-14). Es autor de m\\u00e1s de 200 art\\u00edculos originales de investigaci\\u00f3n <em>publicados<\\\/em> en revistas internacionales en el campo de la bioqu\\u00edmica, biolog\\u00eda molecular e inmunolog\\u00eda (J. Cardiol.).<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><em> Inici\\u00f3<\\\/em> sus estudios bajo la <em>direcci\\u00f3n<\\\/em> del Profesor Alberto Sols investigando el efecto de las interacciones proteicas en la regulaci\\u00f3n del metabolismo de carbohidratos. Posteriormente continu\\u00f3 sus estudios de formaci\\u00f3n post-doctoral en Oxford, en la Facultad de Medicina de la UCL (Bruselas), en Cancer UK (Londres y en la Universidad Carleton de Ottawa, investigando el papel de la prote\\u00edna quinasa C sobre el <em>metabolismo<\\\/em> energ\\u00e9tico de c\\u00e9lulas tumorales. A partir de 1997 se centra en el estudio de la fisiopatolog\\u00eda de los procesos inflamatorios, investigando su contribuci\\u00f3n en procesos tan diversos como la regeneraci\\u00f3n hep\\u00e1tica, el shock s\\u00e9ptico y la miocarditis. En este contexto, estudi\\u00f3 el papel de las especies reactivas de ox\\u00edgeno y nitr\\u00f3geno, en particular del \\u00f3xido n\\u00edtrico, sobre la regulaci\\u00f3n de la regeneraci\\u00f3n del h\\u00edgado despu\\u00e9s de una <em>hepatectom\\u00eda<\\\/em> parcial, as\\u00ed como en la activaci\\u00f3n de macr\\u00f3fagos y su papel en la patolog\\u00eda card\\u00edaca durante la sepsis, infarto o miocarditis infecciosas y autoinmunes, demostrando su papel en los procesos de remodelaci\\u00f3n de la matriz <em>extracelular <\\\/em>del coraz\\u00f3n. Adem\\u00e1s, ha contribuido a esclarecer el papel de los NLRs en procesos fibrog\\u00e9nicos, sobre todo de NOD1, en el ri\\u00f1\\u00f3n y en el coraz\\u00f3n.<\\\/p>\\n\n\n<p><em>Recientemente<\\\/em>, se centr\\u00f3 en el estudio del control del metabolismo energ\\u00e9tico de los macr\\u00f3fagos como factor necesario en la polarizaci\\u00f3n funcional y en el progreso de la respuesta inflamatoria. La publicaci\\u00f3n en J. Immunol. de 2010 estableci\\u00f3 con claridad la especificidad en la reprogramaci\\u00f3n metab\\u00f3lica del macr\\u00f3fago asociada a fenotipos <em>espec\\u00edficos<\\\/em>, como son el pro-inflamatorio y el pro-resolutivo.
